VERIFOR - Developing institutional options for forest verification

Dragging tree through a forest

VERIFOR is a research and advisory project, founded in 2003 with the aim of providing practical support to decision-makers who are developing systems to verify that timber and forest products are legally harvested.

By investigating verification systems in the forest sector and externally, carrying out research on different aspects of the forest governance system and contributing to ongoing national, regional and international dialogues, VERIFOR's activities are designed to develop a range of options for effective verification systems with high national and international credibility.
